Wednesday update

It's been a very different day to Tuesday, with not quite so many laughs - but you wouldn't expect that when the lsunject matter has been Anne Frank, the occupation of The Netherlands during WWII.

The Scouts have listened well, asked some good questions and we hope they have learnt a little today.

The afternoon was a bit more relaxing as we went on a cruise around the canals of Amsterdam for an hour.

We are now back at the hostel where they are chilling out or playing games in the garden.

Dinner at 6:30pm 🙂

Wednesday - day out in Amsterdam

An early start today as we head to Amsterdam on day 5 of summer camp in The Netherlands. The Scouts have been excellent in getting breakfast done, packed lunchesade and on the coach ready to leave by 8:15am.

The day begins with a visit to Anne Frank's House. It's about a 45 minute drive to the capital, so in the meantime we can chill out on the coach.

End of a great day

The sun has been out all day today while at the theme park.

It was a great little park with a mix smaller rides, fun rides and more extreme ones - so something for everyone one.

Scouts were allowed to choose there meal this evening up to the value of €10. Lots of 'Dirty Fries' with donar meat, cheese and salad and Pizza's 🙂

A quick pit stop to the coach to collect swimming gear and it was back into the park for a couple of hours in a fun pool with 21 flumes.

A bit more of a somber day tomorrow as we learn about the Dutch Occupation in WWII, with a visit to Anne Frank's house followed by a walking tour of Amsterdam to see the places related to her story.

Tuesday - a relaxing day.

After a couple of really busy and active days, today the Scouts can take it at their own pace as we head for Duinrell Theme Park and Tiki Pool. We won't be back until early evening as we are have food out at the theme park today.

Monday afternoon and evening

It's been a great afternoon on the beach. The Scouts got to enjoy Sea Rafting and Surfing. The sea was a bit too wild to be able to even stand a chance of getting upright on the SUP so was a good decision to switch to surfing.

Quite a few managed to catch the waves and we definitely have some budding surfers amoungst the group.

It was fantastic to see some that were unsure about going in the sea take the plunge and push themselves.

After a delicious evening meal of homemade Chinese, the Scouts had some free time to play in the hostel gardens.

Monday morning

This morning it was been a walk to the Atlantik Wall Museum. There we were split into 3 groups for a guided tour. Some very good questions and something the Scouts had no knowledge of. Some nice feed back from the tour guides about our young people too 🙂

Sunday afternoon

The weather beat us this afternoon, but netherless the majority managed to get the power kites up in the air. It was a lot harder than it looked and needed a lot of patience and determination. A very big well done to Zac and Skye S who really got the hang of it.

There now some free time in the Hostel so the Scouts and Explorers are playing cards, fussball or pool.
